Peoples Health Honors Champion Jim Heneghan at Saints Home Game

On August 23, 2015 at age 80, Jim Heneghan became a 610 Stomper.

A lot of people try out at Stomper auditions, but few make the grade. It takes more than dance moves. It takes attitude. Sometimes it takes years. It took three for Dr. Heneghan. He wasn’t going to give up. He did Zumba. He worked out. His audition ended with him tearing off his top shirt and flexing his biceps. He was an instant hit.

Dr. Heneghan doesn’t have a background as a dancer. He’s not an entertainer by trade. He’s a retired research professor. He taught physiology to medical students. But a life of learning and educating gave him determination. He knew the 610 Stompers were having fun. And he wanted to be a part of it.

Jim Heneghan wanted to show that age doesn’t define who you are or what you are capable of. He’s 84 years old – a 610 Stomper not in spite of age, but because his years gave him the determination to do it. That’s what makes Jim Heneghan a Peoples Health Champion.

Jim was honored during the New Orleans Saints home game on October 27.
