Message to Peoples Health Plan Members About Recent Tornados
The recent weather events impacted many residents in Louisiana, particularly those in Orleans, St. Bernard and St. Tammany parishes.
Important Message to Peoples Health Providers
Members can refill maintenance medications for long-term health conditions at any time. We’ve removed the restriction that stops them from refilling too soon, so they can get their medications more easily. This restriction is removed through April 6, 2022. Members should let the pharmacist know their health plan is letting them refill maintenance medications due to the recent weather events; the pharmacist may then call Peoples Health to get additional details to process the prescription before filling it.
Important Message to Peoples Health Plan Members
We understand how physical and emotional health can be affected when faced with the unexpected. We are here to support our plan members in getting the health care services and prescription drugs they need. That is why at this time, we are putting additional supports in place to make taking care of your health simpler, no matter where you are.
For Our Members
Refill prescriptions for maintenance medications
You can refill your maintenance medications for long-term health conditions at any time. We’ve removed the restriction that stops you from refilling too soon, so you can get your medications more easily. This restriction is removed through April 6, 2022. Let the pharmacist know your health plan is letting you refill maintenance medications due to the recent weather events; the pharmacist may then call Peoples Health to get additional details to process your prescription, and then the pharmacist will fill it.
You’ll pay your normal plan costs for the prescriptions. Your Peoples Health plan ID card is accepted at drugstores across the state and country, including most chain drugstores. You may visit any location of a chain drugstore. If you don’t have your plan ID card, you can still get your prescriptions refilled. Call member services to find out how.
Use telehealth services
If your doctor’s office is closed because of weather damage, or you are unable to make a scheduled in-person appointment, you have options. You can make a telehealth appointment with a health care provider using your phone, computer, tablet or mobile device. You may be able to use telehealth to see your usual providers if they offer this service and are available. Peoples Health also covers you for telehealth visits with a doctor from Amwell. Visit www.amwell.com or call 1-844-SEE-DOCS (1-844-733-3627) to get started. TTY users may call 711.
Find support for your whole health

TTY users may call 711. The service is free of charge. Trained Optum mental health specialists can help you manage stress and anxiety.
