What OTC items can be purchased with the OTC benefit?

Categories of covered OTC items include generic and brand name products for allergy, sinus, cold and flu; pain relief; home health care and daily living; supports, braces and wraps; dental and oral health; eye and ear care; first aid; smoking cessation; diabetes care; foot care; digestive health; incontinence; skin care; sleep aids; and vitamins. Products and prices listed in the catalog may change at any time.

What is considered a quarter?

Each quarter of the year is divided into the following three-month increments: Jan. 1 – March 31, April 1 – June 30, July 1 – Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 – Dec. 31.

How do I buy OTC items?

Your benefit allows you to shop at participating retail stores with your prefilled debit card to purchase approved items. At checkout, the cashier will scan the barcode on the back of your card.

You can also order items online or by phone. Depending on your plan, you may additionally have the option to order through a mail-in form.

Ordering online is the quickest and easiest way to order items for delivery to your home. You’ll need to create an account first. Once you have an account, you can also:

  • Look up participating retailers for in-store shopping
  • See your credit balance
  • Look up approved items
  • Download a digital catalog
  • Save items in your cart for later
  • Change or update your delivery address (changing your delivery address does not change the permanent address you have on file with us)

Your benefit offers fast and free shipping or delivery when you order through approved ways for home-delivery.

Do I pay for shipping?

No, all shipping or delivery charges are covered by your plan when you order through approved ways for home-delivery and meet the minimum purchase requirement.

Peoples Health Secure Health and Peoples Health Secure Complete members: Note that Walmart may use different methods to get your order to you as timely as possible. The method determines the type of packaging used for your order. For instance, some items may be shipped to you in a box when the items come from a Walmart fulfillment center. Other times, your order may be fulfilled at a local store, and the items will be delivered to you using a local delivery resource, like DoorDash or Uber Eats. Because the order is prepared directly in a store instead of a fulfillment center, the order will be delivered in the same plastic bags that are used for in-store purchases.

I tried to order an item in the catalog, but it’s no longer available. Why?

Approved items can change at any time. There are many items in your catalog and even more items online or at a participating retailer. If a certain item is no longer available, you may be able to find a similar item to purchase. If you call the benefit customer service phone number, a representative will help you find another item close to the one you want. Note that there may be differences with the alternative item, including the cost. Alternative items may automatically be sent to you if an item’s availability changes after you’ve placed an order.

I’m a Peoples Health Secure Health or Peoples Health Secure Complete member. Why can’t I order online or by phone and pick up my order from the Walmart store near my house?

Not all Walmart stores are set up for in-store pick-up, and the location closest to you may not have this option. As a reminder, your prepaid debit card allows you to shop in-store instead of ordering online or by phone. But if ordering online or by phone is more convenient for you, shipping is fast and free when you order the required minimum amount. We can have your order delivered right to your door.

What do I do if an item I need is not available or I can’t find it online?

If you’re ordering online, you will be able to see when an item is no longer available. You may be able to find a similar item that you can order. When you order by phone and an item isn’t available, the representative will try to find an alternative item that’s close to the one you want. When this happens and you’ve ordered multiple items, they may arrive separately in different shipments because they may be from different locations. Alternative items may automatically be sent to you if an item’s availability changes after you’ve placed an order.

If you’re shopping in-store, you will need to first find approved alternative items in your catalog or on the Healthy Benefits Plus website or in the Healthy Benefits Plus app, then buy the approved alternative. Use the bar-code scanner feature in the Healthy Benefits Plus app to scan an in-store item’s UPC code to see if the item is eligible for purchase.

I received my online order in multiple shipments. Why?

The items you ordered may not all be available from the same fulfillment center. If this happens, to make sure you get your items as quickly as possible, the items may be shipped separately from each fulfillment center.

If you’re a Peoples Health Secure Health or Peoples Health Secure Complete member, note that Walmart may use different methods to get your order to you as timely as possible.

When I try to order over the phone, the representative is telling me there is a shipping fee. I thought I had free shipping?

Yes, your benefit offers fast and free shipping and delivery when you order through approved ways for home-delivery.

When I ordered my item over the phone, the representative told me to choose a different item because the one I wanted was not available. What should I do?

Occasionally, an item may be unavailable or discontinued and can’t be shipped or delivered to you. You may choose a different item that is similar to the one you want. This is why the representative offered you a different item that is in stock and that can be shipped or delivered to you. Alternative items may automatically be sent to you if an item’s availability changes after you’ve placed an order.

Can I have my items shipped to another address besides my home?

Yes, you have the option to add a delivery address for a specific order that may be different from your home address. The address you put in will only be used one time to ship or deliver the items for that one order. It does not change the permanent address you have on file with us.

I’m a Peoples Health Secure Health or Peoples Health Secure Complete member. How do I use my benefit to pay a utility bill?

You can use your credits to pay eligible utility bills, like electricity, gas, water and internet. You have three ways to pay utility bills:

  • Through your Healthy Benefits Plus account online. Log in to your account and select Bill Pay.
    • Have your bill handy when you add a utility provider’s information to the system for the first time as a payee.
    • Then you can make a payment and review your payment history.
  • By calling Healthy Benefits Plus customer service. Have your utility account number handy and the service address as listed on the utility bill.
    • The service address must match the address we have on file for you.
    • Tell the representative which utility provider you want to pay and how much you want to pay.
  • At your local Walmart MoneyCenter. Find a store near you on the Healthy Benefits Plus website or at https://healthybenefitsplus.com/hwpcard/stores/storefinder.
    • Be sure to bring your prefilled debit card, an ID, and a copy of your utility bill to get set up with bill pay.

Note that you cannot use your debit card to directly pay the utility provider. Once you’ve submitted payment in one of these ways, you can contact the utility provider if you want to confirm that the payment was received. Payments take up to seven business days to be delivered.

What can I do if my card is lost, stolen or damaged?

If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, you may log in to your Healthy Benefits Plus account or call Healthy Benefits Plus customer service to request a replacement card. Your lost or damaged card will be deactivated and any credits remaining on it at the time of the call may be transferred to a new card. If credits are transferred, the credits will be temporarily unavailable until the new card is
activated. It may take up to 30 days for Healthy Benefits Plus to process and issue a replacement card.

Healthy Benefits Plus is not responsible for any unauthorized use of your card.
