Smoking Cessation Trust

FREE Help to Quit Smoking

For Louisiana smokers who began smoking cigarettes before September 1, 1988, there’s a new helping hand, and it comes at no cost. The smoker can receive services to help quit smoking through the Smoking Cessation Trust, which was created by a 2010 court decision.

The trust covers four types of services:

  • Telephone help lines
  • Doctor visits for services to help smokers quit
  • Group and individual counseling to help smokers quit
  • Coverage for nicotine replacement therapy and related medications
