Health & Wellness Items Delivered to You

Most Peoples Health Medicare Advantage plans cover over-the-counter medications and health & wellness products. If your plan has the benefit, you get a specified dollar amount to spend each quarter for a $0 copay. The products are shipped free directly to you. Local sales tax is added to your order total and deducted from your credit balance. The sales tax is based on your address and varies by parish.

Categories of covered items include generic and brand name products for: allergy; sinus; cold and flu; pain relief; home health care and daily living; supports, braces and wraps; dental and oral health; eye and ear care; first aid; smoking cessation; diabetes care; foot care; digestive health; incontinence; and skin care. Products listed in the catalog may change at any time.

We’re Sending You a New Catalog

Solutran, the company that helps us administer your benefit, updated the health and wellness products catalog, including correcting prices and removing items no longer available.

You should get the new catalog in April. Your new catalog will look a lot like the old one, so be sure to check your mail for the new one and keep it for future use. Then discard the old one.

Ordering Is Easier Online

The Healthy Benefits Plus website is the quickest and most hassle-free way to get your orders in. We’ve made some changes, too, that make online ordering easier than ever.

Starting April 1, you can complete your order in full at http://www.healthybenefitsplus.com/hwp without being routed to Walmart’s website. Now, you can browse items, add items to your cart and check out right in your Healthy Benefits Plus account.

Important Note About Unavailable Items and Longer Call Center Hold Times
Because of COVID-19, some items in the catalog and online are in high demand and may not be available for a while. Also, some call centers have been affected and there may be longer wait times, so online ordering and mail-in order forms are your best options to place an order. If you must speak to a call center representative, call in the early morning, between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., when hold times are shortest.

Some items that are out-of-stock because of COVID-19 include thermometers, antiseptics, sanitizing wipes and acetaminophen products. The following may be unavailable or may become unavailable. This is not an all-inclusive list.

How To Order 2020 Health & Wellness Items

Peoples Health members have three options for ordering health & wellness items.

The quickest and easiest way to order is online. Since you log in to your online account to do so, there’s no need to input your benefit card number and security code to order. Plus, you can check your credit balance, look up approved items, and more.

If you need to order by phone, call in the early morning, between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., when hold times are shortest.

What is considered a quarter?

Each quarter of the year is divided into the following three-month increments: Jan. 1 – March 31, April 1 – June 30, July 1 – Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 – Dec. 31.

How do I order my health & wellness items?

Items can be ordered online, by phone or by mailing in an order form. The Healthy Benefits Plus website is the quickest and easiest way to order. Since you log in to your online account to do so, there’s no need to input your benefit card number and security code to order.

Other benefits to using your online account are that you can:

  • See your credit balance for the quarter with the My Benefit Tracker feature, and see in real time the cost for items in your cart, along with the estimated tax amount
  • Look up approved items
  • Download a digital catalog
  • Save items in your cart for later
  • Change or update your delivery address (changing your delivery address does not change the permanent address you have on file with us)

Please note: Because of COVID-19, some call centers have been affected and there may be longer wait times, so online ordering and using the mail-in order forms that came with your catalog and welcome kit are your best options to place an order.

You can place as many orders as you like per quarter, up to the plan’s quarterly maximum amount. Any unused amounts in a quarter will not carry over to the next quarter. You get fast two-day free shipping on all orders. Items must be purchased from the network mail-order provider. Local sales tax is added to your order and deducted from your credit balance. Sales tax is based on your address and varies by parish.

Why do I have to pay sales tax?

In 2020, the vendor for your health and wellness products benefit is a company called Solutran. Working with Solutran allows us to add sales tax to your order at the end, so you can see the cost of the item and the tax separately, like you normally do when shopping at a retail store.  You cannot be charged out of pocket for sales tax, therefore it is charged within the credit amount and covered with your benefit dollars.

Why can’t I pick up my order from the Walmart store near my house?

Not all Walmart stores are set up for in-store pick-up, and the location closest to you may not have this option. There is no cost to you for two-day shipping, so we can have your order delivered right to your door. This may be more convenient to you than traveling a far distance to a store to pick up your items.

I tried to order an item in the catalog, but it’s no longer available. Why?

Approved items can change at any time. There are more than 400 items in your catalog and 5,000 items online through the Healthy Benefits Plus website. If a certain item is no longer available, you may be able to find a similar item that you can order. If you call the Healthy Benefits Plus phone number, a representative will help you find an alternative item close to the one you want. If you do choose an alternative item, note that there may be differences with the item, including the cost of it. Alternative items may automatically be sent to you if an item’s availability changes after you’ve placed an order.

What do I do if an item I need is not available or I can’t find it online?

If you’re ordering online, you will be able to see when an item is no longer available. You may be able to find a similar item that you can order. When you order by phone and an item isn’t available, the representative will try to find an alternative item that’s close to the one you want. When this happens and you’ve ordered multiple items, they may arrive separately in different shipments because they may be from different locations. You get two-day free shipping on all orders, whether you get a single shipment or multiple shipments. Alternative items may automatically be sent to you if an item’s availability changes after you’ve placed an order.

I received my order in multiple shipments. Why?

The items you ordered may not all be available from the same fulfillment center. When I try to order over the phone, the representative is telling me there is a shipping fee. I thought I had free shipping?

Yes, your benefit offers free two-day shipping on all orders you place, whether you get a single shipment or multiple shipments. Walmart helps us fulfill orders for health and wellness items, and shipping fees are waived for you.

When I ordered my item over the phone, the representative told me to choose a different item because the one I wanted was not available. What should I do? 

Occasionally, an item may be unavailable or discontinued and can’t be shipped to you. You may choose a different item that is similar to the one you want. This is why the representative offered you a different item that is in stock and that can be shipped to you. Alternative items may automatically be sent to you if an item’s availability changes after you’ve placed an order.

Can I have my items shipped to another address besides my home? 

Yes. When you order online, you have the option to add a delivery address for a specific order that may be different from your home address. The address you put in will only be used one time to ship the items for that one order. It does not change the permanent address you have on file with us.

Because of COVID-19, I couldn’t place my first quarter order because I couldn’t get through to the call center, or I didn’t get my order. Now my first quarter credits are expired. What can I do?
