Smoking Cessation Trust
FREE Help to Quit Smoking
For Louisiana smokers who began smoking cigarettes before September 1, 1988, there’s a new helping hand, and it comes at no cost. The smoker can receive services to help quit smoking through the Smoking Cessation Trust, which was created by a 2010 court decision.
The trust covers four types of services:
- Telephone help lines
- Doctor visits for services to help smokers quit
- Group and individual counseling to help smokers quit
- Coverage for nicotine replacement therapy and related medications
To access the services offered, all the smoker needs to do is apply with the trust. Applying is quick and easy. Simply visit https://www.smokingcessationtrust.org/peoples. Or call the trust toll-free at 1-855-259-6346.

Peoples Health is a Medicare Advantage organization with a Medicare contract to offer HMO plans. Enrollment depends on annual Medicare contract renewal.
