Peoples Health partnered with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, the Community Center of St. Bernard and the St. Bernard Council on Aging to help local seniors in St. Bernard Parish celebrate Thanksgiving in the spirit of giving back to the community.
Volunteers from the organizations served more than 88 Thanksgiving meals to local seniors at the Sigur Civic Center on Nov. 21.
Peoples Health is the proud sponsor of the 7th annual Second Harvest Food Bank’s Thanksgiving and Holiday Meals for Seniors program. This program provides more than 6,000 traditional
holiday meals to local seniors in need. The food is prepared at the Second Harvest Community Kitchen and distributed to locations across the Greater New Orleans area, as well as sites in Lafayette, Lake Charles and the bayou region.
“We are committed to the communities we serve and understand the challenges many seniors face throughout the year but also during the holiday season. Through these Thanksgiving meals,
we are able to highlight the need to support our seniors,” stated Nick Karl, Chief Marketing Officer at Peoples Health.
Through this sponsorship, Peoples Health is proud to support local seniors and bring awareness to senior hunger issues in the community during this holiday season. The company is a Medicare
Advantage organization and is now accepting enrollment in its plans during Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period, which ends December 7 and is the time of year Medicare recipients can
change their Medicare coverage for January 1, 2018. New this year, Peoples Health has announced its coverage return to St. Bernard Parish. Residents can opt in to a Peoples Health
plan during the Annual Enrollment Period with coverage starting January 1.
