Beat the Heat With a Summer Makeover

Summer is a great time to enjoy outdoor activities, but soaring temperatures can make it dangerous to be outside. But not to worry! Follow the tips below to learn how to safely beat the heat with style.

Skincare
Dangerous ultraviolet rays from the sun can burn your skin. Cover your body with sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or more at least 30 minutes before you go outside and be sure to reapply every two hours.
Tip: If you want the look of a tan without damaging your skin, try sunless self-tanners. You can find these products in any drugstore for under $10.

Hair
The summer sun can dry out your hair. Make sure you use a shampoo and conditioner that work with your hair type.
Tip: Try a leave-in conditioner to add extra softness.

Outfit
Stay cool and fashionable by wearing light, loose-fitting clothing made of fabric like cotton or linen.
Tip: Ladies, for a little extra style, paint your toenails a bright color and wear a cute pair of comfortable sandals.

Accessories
Dress things up with a wide-brimmed straw hat and sunglasses. Gentleman can wear a straw fedora, porkpie hat or their favorite baseball cap.
Tip: Buy a neutral-colored hat and tie different color ribbons around it to match your outfit.

Pamper Yourself
Take a break from the heat by having a picnic under an umbrella or the shade of a tree. Make sure you pack plenty of water and healthy snacks, like fresh fruit.
